How TO CHOOSE A DIAMOND: THE 4CS
When choose a diamond, it's important know its main characteristics and be aware of the criteria by which it must be evaluated.
More in particular,the quality and value of each diamond, both earth grown and lab grown,are determined by the famous 4Cs.
Cutting (CUT)
The cut of a diamond indicates the stone's ability to reflect light optimally, thus determining its brilliance.
Diamonds that maximize light return are very rare.
This depends on 2 main factors:
the cutter must be experienced and skilled in the cutting process which, in this case, also requires more time;
It is necessary to sacrifice a good part of the original rough diamond to make the best cut and thus maintain the ideal proportions.
Weight (CARAT)
Carat is the unit of weight of a diamond.
More in particular, 1 carat equals a weight of 0,2 grams.
The size of the diamond increases its value, provided that the color, clarity and cut are also of good quality.
The color (COLOR)
The color scale of each diamond is expressed with an alphabet that goes from D to Z, where D indicates the whitest stone, while Z the yellowest stone, although not enough to be considered “fancy color”, that is, the rare fantasy color.
Purity (CLARITY)
The carbon crystallization process leaves small traces of natural elements in the diamond: inclusions. The number, position and size of inclusions inside a diamond determine its degree of clarity.
